Welcome to Singing in the Garden!

As my Grandchildren, ages 4 and 6 are now living with us at Oliver Creek Farm, I prepare a few songs we will be Singing in the Garden. Forest and Farm Schools are alive around the world. Come for a visit to our bonfire, we will sing, tell stories and enjoy farm and nature at Oliver Creek Farm.

Earth who gave to us our food, Sun who made it ripe and good. Dearest Earth and dearest Sun joy and love for all you have done, joy and love for all you have done. – C. Morgenstern.

An apple is roasted and peeled for snack! Hot tea comes with plants and flowers, seeds and roots and we have a picnic! Then on a special branch we peel, a bannock is rolled long and winds around the stick. Once cooled we smother it with some butter and enjoy!

Good morning dear earth, good morning dear sun, good morning dear trees and flowers each one, good morning dear beasts and birds in the tree, good morning to you and good morning to me! This is written for the first grade of the Chicago Waldorf School in the mood of the fifth by C. Lando–ime

Now that Winter’s come to stay all the trees are bare, little birds must fly away to find their food elsewhere. Little seeds be hidden in the dark brown earth waiting until bidden to rise above earth!

Thumbs in the thumb-place, fingers all together! This is the song we sing in mitten-weather. When it is cold, it doesn’t matter whether mittens are wool or made of finest leather. This is the song we sing in mitten-weather: thumbs in the thumb-place, fingers all together! -by Marie Louise Allen, 1939

When the sun sends down his glow children animals flowers do grow. To life the sun does give light and warmth that all may live! My own heart is like the sun giving light to everyone. Lovingly it shall unfold opening up in shining gold!

Join our little forest adventure recreational program, Singing in the Garden, on Oliver Creek Farm! If your interested please email elyena@lundh.ca and we will share more information!

“A little brown fellow peeps out of a hole; What a big world! cried he. And I such a tiny and velvety mole, and all of it waiting for me! Oh the world is enormous and brilliant and bright. How I blink at its dazzle and shine! But as soon as my eyes have got used to the light then the whole of this world shall be mine!”

Inonoaklin Valley, BC Playgroup on our farm

My son, Will, was two when we started a playgroup in my home forty three years ago. In this photo we stacked hay onto a pole. And I had sewn a Teepee that we put up. When Josh was in Kindergarten I was teaching in Kaslo BC at Mountain Lake School in my home. We lived near Lofstead Biodynamic Farm. And when Mountain Lake School got its own school building I taught the Pre-school-Kindergarten. The picture below was with my daughter Liv in the classroom.

After teaching at the Periwinkle Pre-school and the Little Turnip Farm School in Kaslo we moved into Nelson BC and the children attended the Nelson Waldorf School. I was gifted by a friend a building to teach a Pre-school, Kindergarten and After-school program called Children’s Orchard.

I was using the Teepee I sewed in this program as well. We had a kind neighbour who would come regularly with her horse to have the students learn about horsemanship, combing, and taking care of the horse, along with a ride. Which we were also able to do at Little Turnip Farm School. As I became ill we moved back to Kaslo. I carried a home summer program caring for children. And then went to work as a Kindergarten/Pre-school teacher at the Nelson Waldorf School. Again I was in a car accident and had to stop teaching for awhile. I returned to teach at the Kelowna Waldorf School as a Kindergarten Teacher and to help my parents who lived there.

I continued teaching on Vancouver Island where we are now at Morning Glory Waldorf – Inspired School, which then became Arrowsmith Independent School where I substituted. and presently at the Sunrise Waldorf School in Duncan BC.

Starting at age 14 in South Slocan I ran Summer Recreational programs, then thru College developed and taught in the Slocan Valley the RUSKANA summer rec. program. Later in Calgary Alberta I worked in the parks as a leader. I have now had 58 years of implementing and teaching programs for children, youth and families. With a BA in Child, Youth and Family care I am available to mentor others who wish to provide programs for children. As well as welcome guests to join me at the bonfire, in the forest, garden or at the creek for songs, beverages, food, stories, art and crafts.

Spring is coming soon.
Light the smile in your heart,
New buds are forming...
To shine in the summer sun.
Flowers soon shall be blooming.
Giving a thousand smiles,
To all brothers and sisters on Earth and in Heaven
Thank you for each breath as it fills our hearts with love.
May we all breathe out love to all living things, to all beings.
